which lens should you choose
lenses shape not just the image, but the story it tells. Wide-angle lenses offer a broad field of view—ideal for capturing immersive landscapes, architecture, or group scenes. They exaggerate perspective, making backgrounds appear farther and adding depth to the frame. On the other hand, telephoto lenses compress space and bring distant subjects closer, making them perfect for wildlife, sports, or portraits with creamy bokeh.
Given my interest in structured systems and how environments influence perception, I’m intrigued by the wide-angle lens. Its ability to include more context and exaggerate spatial relationships aligns with how I like to analyze scenes—both visually and intellectually. I want to experiment with how distortion and depth can reflect different narratives, especially in urban or natural settings.
types of photography
The article outlines 38 distinct photography niches, ranging from portrait and landscape to astrophotography and drone photography. Portrait photography is one of the most accessible styles today, thanks to smartphones and social media encouraging everyday photo sharing. Landscape photography benefits from drone technology, allowing photographers to capture aerial views and add depth to their compositions. Abstract photography draws inspiration from early 20th-century art movements like Cubism and Surrealism, focusing on shapes, colors, and symbolism rather than recognizable subjects. Astrophotography requires specialized gear and knowledge of astronomy, often involving long exposures and manual focus to capture celestial events. Sports photography demands fast shutter speeds and high ISO settings to freeze action, often using heavy telephoto lenses. Food photography has become more mainstream due to social media, with many photographers using smartphones and adjusting white balance and saturation for appealing shots. Commercial photography spans multiple genres, including product and fashion photography, and typically involves working with brands or organizations to create marketing visuals.

Depth of field

The simulator taught me how very important it is to Actually have control over your settings because when I was doing it with the AV mode it came out complete good then when I did Manuel it came out horrible I had to fix the shutter speed and fix The iso so it can come out lighter.
- What are aperture, shutter speed and ISO? Aperture is the opening of the lens, shutter speed is how fast it opens and closes, ISO is how sensitive the camera is to light.
- When would you need to change your ISO? the only time you need to do it is when you switch rooms and ho dark it is.
- What is aperture and shutter priority settings? shutter speed you need to change when the main object is moving an need to make it sharp.
- What are AF modes how do you change them? AF is auto focus an you change it by switching from manual to auto focus.
- Why do your need to meter the light to get the right exposure? Because you don’t want the object to be too dark or too bright.
- What is the difference between a normal, wide angle and telephoto lens? Normal is to make the photo look normal wide is when you want to capture a wider view of an event or sport games.
- What is white balance and why would you need to change it? to show more color so the photo wont be so Blane
- What is depth of field and what is the difference between shallow and good? depth of field depends on how blurry the back ground is and shallow you have the main object in the photo and a blurry background.
- What are drive modes and metering modes? Drive is how fast the shutter is and meter mode is determined the exposure.
- What is exposure compensation? to change how bright the picture is.
